Butter Biscuits/ Nanakattan

Butter biscuits is my alltime favourite snack. My hubby loves it so much that he makes it a point to empty the biscuit container before the next sun rise!! :) :)its also a favourite among kiddos and also adult. Here goes the recipe...

INGREDIENTS:

All purpose flour - 1 cup
Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup
Softened butter- 1/2 cup
Baking powder - 1/4 tsp
Cardamom powder -a pinch
Rice flour -  2 tbsp
Salt-a pinch

METHOD:
  1. Sieve the all purpose flour finely and add the powdered sugar ,baking powder and cardamon powder and mix well.
  2. Then add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and  knead it well to form a dough.
  3. Pre heat the oven to 350 deg fahrenheit.Form equal sized balls out of the dough and press them into round biscuit shapes..
  4. Finally  bake the biscuits for about 20 mts in a baking tray..Let the biscuits cool down completely.Enjoy as your tea time snack :)
SCRIBBLED NOTES:
  • You can also carve a round shape with any cap or press with a fork to make different patterns on biscuits to make an impression  like the biscuits we get in bakery :)

    2. Very popular home made biscuit among Tamil Muslims of Thanjavur District, but I was surprised when a Gujarati friend of mine mentioned the name and enjoyed saying it's his favorite and also popular among their people
