Beetroot Halwa


I found some leftover beetroots in my fridge and thus ended up in making Beetroot Halwa.Here goes the recipe....


INGREDIENTS:

Beetroot(med)-2
Sugar-1 cup
Condensed milk-1/2 cup +1 Tbsp
Ghee-2 Tbsp
Cashews/Pistachios-as needed

METHOD:
  1. Grate the beetroots .
  2. Heat a Tbsp of ghee in a pan and fry the grated beetroots till it softens.
  3. Now add the condensed milk and give it a stir.
  4. Add the sugar and stir well .The halwa will become watery at first then it will get thickened after a few minutes.Switch off the stove and let it cool.
  5. Heat another pan with a tbsp of ghee and fry the cashews.pistachios.
  6. Garnish Halwa with pistachios,cashews.

  1. I know of this halwa and have heard of it...but never tried it. I am sure it tastes as good as it looks. I just went through some beets the other day, I will try making these next time, my hubby loves dessert.

    1. Do try it Nazneen,am sure you would like it :-) you can also make it with khoa for extra richness and taste,but adjust the sugar accordingly.
